The State Department set out the new fee in a temporary final rule published in the Federal Register on 9 June 2026. It applies to B1/B2 visitor visas only and runs from 1 July to 31 December 2026.
What $750 buys
- An interview appointment within ten business days.
- Nothing more: the fee does not speed up the decision and does not change the questions the consul asks. If the visa is refused, it is not refunded.
Where it is available
The rule says the service is offered “at limited posts” and “in limited quantities”. The State Department named them later: posts in Mexico from 21 July 2026, and from 18 August 2026 posts in Canada plus Bogotá, Guatemala City, San José and Tegucigalpa. Embassies in Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and Asia are not on the list.
What it means for everyone else
For most applicants nothing changes: the queue is the queue, and since September 2025 you can book only in your country of nationality or residence. The way to shorten the wait is still the old one — submit a complete DS-160 early and watch the official booking site for dates that open up.
